Located in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, Coopersburg is a borough with an estimated population of 2,567 people. It lies just 40 miles north of Philadelphia and 76 miles west of New York City and covers a total area of just under 1 square mile of land.
Settled in roughly 1730, Coopersburg was originally called Freyburg after local tavern owner and judge Joseph Frey. It was renamed after Judge Peter Cooper by the time it became an incorporated borough. It is also known, historically, as the site of famous cattle sales at the estate of Tilghman S. Cooper.
